Melbourne Rhinoplasty Surgery Solutions
Subtle Transformations assists clients looking to improve their physical appearance through surgical procedures. One of the more common cosmetic surgery performed is a rhinoplasty or nose job. This option is used in order to transform the size and/or reshape your nose. As well as being used purely for aesthetic reasons, rhinoplasty surgery can also be performed in order to correct an injury or birth defect, or assist in relieving nasal obstruction.

Who is the procedure suitable for?
Rhinoplasty is suitable for those who are looking for improvement and have realistic expectations regarding the outcome of the procedure. While a nose job can enhance your appearance, patients must understand the realistic capabilities of the surgery.
As any surgery carries risks, it is important that every candidate is thoroughly aware of any possible complication that can occur during and after the procedure. These complications can include infection, nose bleeds, reaction to the anaesthetic used and scarring. As rhinoplasty surgery must be undergone only after careful and thorough consideration, Mr Walsh does not perform reshaping procedures on persons under the age of 18.
Rhinoplasty surgery cost in Melbourne
How much a rhinoplasty will cost will often be a factor for many candidates looking to undergo this procedure. Some health insurers will not cover cosmetic procedures, however you may check whether it is partially covered with your insurance provider. If it is not, patients will need to consider whether the cost is within their abilities. We will thoroughly discuss your options in terms of the surgery and go through the costs involved by offering a quote after the consultation.
Consultations are held in our St Kilda clinic, however surgical procedures will be performed in one of the Melbourne hospitals Mr Walsh visits, and these include Linacre Private, Masada Private, Cabrini (in Malvern) and Holmesglen Private Hospital.
The nose reshaping procedure
Rhinoplasty in a Melbourne hospital is a relatively quick procedure and can usually be completed in around two to three hours. A nose job will usually require an overnight stay in hospital, however most patients will be up and about within two days and can often return to sedentary activities within two weeks or so. It is important to avoid strenuous activities for around three weeks and care must be taken when washing your face and using cosmetics. Post care will be discussed with you in detail and a follow up appointment will also be arranged at 6 weeks and 12 months.
It is important that a patient expects some swelling and bruising. This will often peak around two to three days, however this can be reduced with cold compresses. Most of the bruising and swelling should subside after a couple of weeks, however slight swelling (unnoticeable to others besides your surgeon and yourself) will stay for several months. The full results of the rhinoplasty surgery will be apparent after 12 months.
