Skinboosters

What are skinboosters?

Skinboosters are an aesthetic procedure that involves injection of stabilised hyaluronic acid into the dermis. There are similarities of this procedure to dermal filler injections, however, the aim of the treatment is quite different.

How do skinboosters differ from dermal fillers?

Skinboosters are injected into the mid-dermis which is usually a more superficial area of the skin, compared with dermal filler injections. Unlike dermal fillers, where the aim is usually to add volume to an area, the aim of skin boosters is to improve the quality of the skin in the treated area.

What benefits have been seen from skinbooster treatments?

-Improvements to the hydration of the skin treated
-Improvements in the elasticity of the skin
-Improvements to the appearance of some acne scars
-Smoother skin
-Decrease in smile lines

What are the common areas to treat?

Common places that are treated are usually where there is a loss of elasticity such as the smile lines close the mouth or mid cheek area where crow’s feet start to extend down the cheek. Your clinician will discuss which areas will be more beneficial for you during your consultation.

How long does it last?

The benefits of this procedure will vary from person to person, however, there is evidence that shows positive effects seen up to at least 6 months from the initial treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

It is recommended that the individual undergoes 3 treatments at monthly intervals to gain the most benefit from the procedure followed by ongoing maintenance of 1 – 2 treatments per year if required.

What to expect on the day of your skinbooster treatment:

This procedure is performed by our aesthetic Registered Nurse. To ensure this procedure is appropriate for you your treatment will be booked following your initial consultation.
This will include discussion on any risks involved, what to expect in terms of side effects and results and any post treatment instructions will be given. On the day of the procedure, the area will be numbed using numbing cream and a series of small injections will be administered into the skin. As with many aesthetic procedures, results take time to be seen and your clinician will discuss this during your consultation.
